Overview
This week we are going to learn about web hosting, domain names, and how to make your site live on the web. For a final project everyone will need to have a clean and finished live Joomla website. My own webhost, http://penguinwebhosting.com has graciously given me a webhosting space for each of you to control, create websites and have full access to the backend cpanel administrative tool in order to host websites with. You will be able to use this webhosting space until the end of the semester.
Assignment
You will receive a domain name, username and password in order to access your cpanel and administer your webhost space.
- Login to cpanel with your username and password
- Create a directory (folder) for a Joomla website
- Upload the Joomla installation package to the folder
- Extract the package
- Create a MySQL database
- Create a MySQL user, with full privileges
- Use a web browser to go to the website/directory and follow the installation script
- Delete the installation folder
- Start creating your new Joomla website LIVE!

After struggling with Mysql for a couple hours, I finally got it to work. Then trying to get the site migrated over to my host was another pain. But I finally got everything to work, and here it is, live.

I all of a sudden can't access my site using MAMP. It won't connect to the MySQL Server. I was just using it the other day, but now I can't get in. Any ideas??
