    1. Login to Picasa Web Albums and Danscourses.com,
    2. Go into (click on) your web album (I recommend creating a web album to hold all your class assignments),
    3. Click Actions > Album Properties > Set the visibility to "Public on the Web,"
    4. Now open (click on) the photo you want to get a link to,
    5. On the right hand side look for a link called "Link to this photo" and click on it,
    6. You should now see two form fields "Link" and "Embed," click on the "Link" form which will highlight the link address (URL) in the field,
    7. With it highlighted press (Ctrl+C) to copy the link address (URL) ,
    8. Paste it (Ctrl+V) in your Forum topic.
    9. Submit your Forum topic/post.

  • CCNA3 - Week 2 posted!

  • Updated! Windows Server Installation - If you are in a MSFT class, this week is the week to get your server up and running. SDL students will install their server in the lab (or at home) and for online students I will be installing servers and setting up remote connectivity for students to connect to the lab from home. Please contact me about this and I will give you my progress. Online students may also choose to install their servers and clients at home.
  • Dont' get dropped from class: If a student did not make it to the Networking Lab GMB133 last week (SDL students), or did not make contact with me by email (Online students) preferably at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , then they are in danger of being reported as not attending and will eventually be dropped from the class as a no-show. You can avoid this by coming to the Lab this week, contacting me by email, and other methods like posting to the Forum on this site to let me know that you are in fact attending!

Class Updates! I am currently working on updating the week 2 materials for each class. If I post class updates is posted I will announce it below:

Spring Week 1 - Welcome to DansCourses

E-mail Print

Class Tip! - Do you want to work on Saturdays in the lab? The Flex lab GMB130 is open Saturdays from 9am to 1pm and you can walk straight through the inside door to get in to my lab. You are always welcome to come in and work.

Having problems logging in to Danscourses.com? - Having problems logging in with the "User Login" using Internet Explorer? Try enabling cookies. In Internet Explorer go to Tools > Internet Options > "Privacy" tab > change the setting to "accept all cookies." Also I recommend installing Firefox. I like having more than one web browser.  If you are still having problems logging in to danscourses on the right. Check the "remember me" check box. That seems to help.

If you are a newly enrolled student at Sheridan College, enrolled in one of the classes listed on the left, then you are in the right place. Welcome to DansCourses! If you are a general visitor from the web then I am glad you found me. Welcome to you! This is my website not the college's. I prefer to run all my classes through my own website which gives me way more flexibility and control over the content, structure,  and the delivery methodology. You will find all of the information about your specific class, such as schedule, class materials, texts, assignments, etc., by clicking on the specific class link on the left and going to the class section of this site. Every week, at this website I will be posting information and assignments to the different class sections. It is your job, to make it a habit of visiting this site every day during the semester to get the latest news and assignments. Well, maybe not everyday but you get the picture.

If you are enrolled in a SDL (Self Directed Learning) class section, then the first thing you want to do is click on the Lab Hours link above and figure out a time to visit me in the Computer Networking Lab. The lab is located in the Griffith Memorial Building, Room 133. Please come by at your earliest convenience to discuss the class and take a tour of the lab. If you are enrolled in an Online class section then please contact me by email at your earliest convenience to introduce yourself and discuss the class. Since I don't rely on traditional textbooks, it is important this first week to make sure you purchase and gain access to the online materials. For most of you, that will involve materials from either Lynda.com or TestOut.com. You will find more information about purchasing the online materials for your class by clicking the class link on the left and reading the Week 1 Information.

Every class has an assignment the first week so don't wait to get started. Once you have carefully read the Week 1 section of your class, you may still have questions. Please contact me if you have any questions about the class or how to get started.

Class Updates!

  • The promo code for purchasing LabSim is on the whiteboard in the lab or I can email it to you.
  • The lab password for the HP lab computers is on the whiteboard
  • Students needing access to the Lynda.com class materials: I will be sending you an invitation by email to purchase the class materials bundle. You will need the links and codes in the email. I will be sending those emails out today so let me know which email address you prefer it sent to.
